2Her family made plans to fly to New Jersey. While they traveled, the officers gave Koko a safe place to stay, plenty of care, and a few new friends.
And when her family arrived? Koko ran right to her mom. Nobody knows how she got so far away. But this part we know: she was finally going home.
Almost two years later, a resident spotted a small dog wandering near Clark Commons Shopping Center. Officer Nick Kurus brought her to the Clark Police Department.
Then they checked her microchip. It led them all the way back to a family in Glenn Heights, Texas. The dog’s name was… KOKO.
The best part of any adventure is coming home.
6Koko was a small dog with a family who loved her. One day, she squeezed underneath the backyard fence. By the time anyone noticed, she was gone.
Her family searched the neighborhood and everywhere they could think of. Days became weeks. Weeks became months. Still, no Koko.
